Pleasant Prairie Police Appreciation Association

Founded in 2017, the Association Funds Programs to Enhance Officer Morale and Safety.

Volunteers delivered the signs, sorted the incoming messages, and responded to questions and suggestions from Friends.

–Your donations provided those signs.

In 2017,  Donations provided over $32,000 to purchase a Personal Body Camera for every officer to record his or her activities during incidents and assure that evidence is available. This was well ahead of national recognition of the importance of body cameras.

“Those body cameras have already proven their effectiveness . They have enhanced the ability of an officer to recall facts about cases while documenting statements and contacts with our community. The cameras have also protected our officers against false complaints.”
David Smetana
Pleasant Prairie Police Chief

Donors and volunteers also helped with programs managed and sponsored by the Officers themselves such as “Shop-With-a-Cop” and the K – 9 Fund. They delivered Holliday treats between shifts on Christmas Eve. They provided a Pizza dinner at a family meeting attended by Officers’ families. Our volunteers and donors provided help with a picnic attended by Officers and their families from all of Kenosha County.
